Car buying can be a tricky business no matter where you live. Whether you are looking for Nashville chevrolet dealers, or asking your self why buy a Chevy volt, the decision can be a hard and stressful one. Here are a few facts about the history of the automobile industry to help you get your mind off the stressful decisions ahead of you.
1. Though many people assume that the first car company in the United States was the Ford company, in fact the first American automobile manufacturing company was the Duryea Motor Wagon Company. The company founded a decade before the Ford Motor Company by the Duryea brothers in 1893.
2. In keeping with the trend of innovation before the Ford Motor Company, Oldsmobile, originally the Olds Motor Vehicle Company, was founded over a year before Ford. In fact, Ransom E. Olds had an automobile production line running as early as 1902 which is a year before Ford put his into production.
3. Though they often do not receive the appropriate credit for it, women have been pioneering advances in automotive technology since they were first invented. By 1923, about 30 years since the very first cars went into production, close to 200 new inventions for the improvement of cars by women had been reported. These included important engineering and technical advances that are still being used and improved upon today like the carburetor and the electric engine starter.
4. Another woman who helped to drive automobile innovation forward was Mary Anderson. After noticing that the visibility of trolly and automobile drivers was hindered by rain and other forms of precipitation, she patented the windshield wiper in 1905. Not content to wait for someone else to come up with a solution, she found a fix for the problem and is responsible for keeping millions of people safe even to this day.
Did you know that a study found that close to 100 percent of car owners claim that they sing while they are driving? When your car buying woes get the best of you as you spend your time going from Nashville GMC dealers to Tennessee buick Dealers, give it a try and to help you get through this stressful time with a smile on your face.

i love that so many important car inventions were made by women. I wish this was taught in schools more. people need to realize that this country was not just built by men and even if a man invented something, a woman made it better.
i know what you mean. this kind of information is interesting and important and this is the first place I’ve ever seen it. I love that a woman saw that there needed to be a way to get rain off a windshield and she just came up with one.
