Put Some Steel over Your Car

Carport

If you do not have room for a garage, or if you own a piece of property where no one ever bothered to install one, you still have a few options. One of the best options for those who need to set something up quickly is to build metal carports or metal garages. This might sound expensive. It is not, especially when you consider how much glass Americans recycle every single year.

In fact, in a single year, Americans recycle more steel than they recycle plastic, paper, aluminum and glass combined. One reason is because throwing steel away just does not seem right. And steel is more valuable when it is recycled.

Steel goes back a long way. In fact, the oldest piece of steel that anyone ever used was discovered in Anatolia, or modern day Turkey. And it was about 4000 years old. Car ports, or “auto spaces” as one Minnesota architecture firm once recommended calling them, can go through a lot.

Carports have other advantages over alternative varieties of garage buildings, especially when they are made out of metal. For one thing fire and termites are not every likely to make much of a dent. Earthquakes and other natural disasters also have less tendency to cause any lasting damage.

At a time when 7 percent of Americans own a recreational vehicle of some kind, a lot of people need an extra garage, even if their house has already come with one garage. This is something that is easily affordable for a lot of people. Whether or not they realize it, owning not just a car but a place to put it in might be for them. References.

  1. I put up a metal garage for my recreational vehicle. It has served me pretty well over the years, especially since I live in Massachusetts where the weather can be extreme, to say the least. That is how I set up shop.

  2. There are disadvantages to a carport, too. One of them is that there is no real way of controlling the temperature so there is not a lot of space to do maintenance work on the vehicles that you have.
